The Department Director may delegate powers for cross-cutting issues of particular importance.
Delegations of authority by the Department Director
The following delegates have been appointed for the three-year period 2021/2024 to support the Director in pursuing the objectives of the Department of Industrial Engineering.
Teaching Delegate: Professor Alessandro Fortunato
The Teaching Delegate:
- Examines all cases relating to teaching falling within the Department's remit, and at the request of the Director presents them to the Board.
- Prepares and submits to the Director the Teaching needs for the budget.
- Assists the Director in defining the faculty for each degree programme.
- Supports the Director in monitoring the quality of the Department's teaching and in collecting the data required by the university.
- Supports the Director in liaising with AFORM and the Pro-Rector for Teaching.
- Participates in university and/or school meetings on the subject.
- Working with the Director, coordinates initiatives concerning the Department's teaching (orientation days, open days, etc.).
- Coordinates with the Delegates of the other Departments for the organisation and management of joint teaching activities.
- Provides guidance to the IT contact person in order to keep the teaching-related pages of the DIN website up to date.
Research Delegate: Professor Emilio Ferrari
The Research Delegate:
- Examines all cases relating to research falling within the Department's remit, and at the request of the Director presents them to the Board.
- Supports the Director in drafting the SUA RD form.
- Supports the Director in monitoring the quality of the Department's research and in collecting the data required by the university.
- Supports the Director in liaising with ARIC and the Pro-Rector for Research.
- Participates in university meetings on the subject.
- Together with the Director, coordinates initiatives concerning the Department's research.
- Coordinates with the Delegates of the other Departments for the organisation and management of joint research activities.
- Provides guidance to the IT contact person in order to keep the research-related pages of the DIN website up to date.
Internationalisation Delegate: Professor Lorenzo Donati
The Internationalisation Delegate:
- Examines all cases relating to internationalisation falling within the Department's remit, and at the request of the Director presents them to the Board.
- Makes proposals to the Director on the use of the internationalisation budget allocated to the Department by the university.
- Supports the Director in monitoring the quality of the Department's internationalisation actions and in collecting the data required by the university.
- Supports the Director in collecting data on the international mobility of incoming and outgoing students, professors and researchers.
- Supports the Director in liaising with DIRI and the Pro-Rector for Internationalisation.
- Participates in university and/or school meetings on the subject.
- Together with the Director, coordinates initiatives concerning the Department's internationalisation.
- Coordinates with the Delegates of the other Departments for the management of educational exchange programmes for faculty and students and for the implementation of other joint initiatives.
- Provides guidance to the IT contact person in order to keep the internationalisation-related pages of the DIN website up to date.
Department and Society Delegate: Professor Andrea Zucchelli
The Department and Society Delegate:
- Supports the Director and the Department's faculty in negotiating consultancy/research contracts.
- Acts as an interface between research groups, the Department's administration and the offices of the Research and Department and Society Area with regard to the contractual framework, and in particular the approach concerning IP Rights within the framework of commissioned consultancy/research.
- Supports the Director in liaising with ARIC and the Pro-Rector for Research.
- Participates in university meetings on the subject.
- Together with the Director, coordinates the Department and Society initiatives.
- Coordinates with the Delegates of the other Departments for the organisation and management of joint initiatives.
VRA, VQR Delegate: Professor Giorgio Olmi
The VRA, VQR Delegate analyses Productivity Indicators:
- Supports the Director in analysing the quality of research and in preparing indicators for the scientific production of the various research groups.
- At the request of the Director, presents the department's productivity performance to the Board.
- Supports the Administration in carrying out the RFO allocation calculation according to the criteria involving the use of VRA indicators.
- Participates in university and/or school meetings on the subject.
Laboratory Delegate (Bologna - Terracini Area): Eng. Luca Barbaresi
The Laboratory Delegate (Bologna - Terracini Area):
- Supports the Director in the management of the laboratories.
- Coordinates with the Laboratory Management Coordinator to find proposals for the improvement of the various problems.
- Supports the Director in the interpretation and proper application of standards and technical procedures in laboratory work.
- Supports the Director in liaising with ATES.
- Participates in university and/or school meetings on the subject.
Laboratory Delegate (Bologna - Montecuccolino Area): Eng. Francesco Teodori
The Laboratory Delegate (Bologna - Montecuccolino Area):
- Supports the Director in the management of the laboratories.
- Coordinates with the Laboratory Management Coordinator to find proposals for the improvement of the various problems.
- Supports the Director in the interpretation and proper application of standards and technical procedures in laboratory work.
- Supports the Director in liaising with ATES.
- Participates in university and/or school meetings on the subject.
Construction Delegate (Bologna): Professor Alessandro Morri
The Construction Delegate (Bologna):
- Supports the Director in the management of logistics and space throughout the Department.
- Coordinates the working group that studies and proposes to the Department how to move the Department to the new spaces assigned following the transfer of the DICAM and the DA to Via Terracini,
- Studies and proposes solutions regarding the possible relocation of existing research groups and identifies new spaces for new activities that may arise in the Department.
- Supports the Director in liaising with AUTC.
- Participates in university and/or school meetings on the subject.
Dore Library Delegate: Professor Carla Martini
The Dore Library Delegate:
- Is a member of the Library’s scientific committee, responsible for ensuring the continuous availability of bibliographic sources relevant to the Department and the cost-effective management thereof.
- Performs an annual census of bibliographic resources of interest to the Department and submits it to the Board.
Construction and Laboratory Delegate (Forlì): Professor Paolo Tortora
The Construction and Laboratory Delegate (Forlì):
- Supports the Director in managing the logistics and spaces of the Department and the laboratories in the Forlì UOS.
- Studies and proposes solutions regarding the possible relocation of existing research groups and identifies new spaces for new activities that may arise in the Department.
- Makes proposals to the Board concerning the methods for moving and accommodating the UOS at the current ENAV-Forlì campus.
- Participates in university and/or school meetings on the subject.
Communications Delegate: Professor Massimiliano De Agostinis
The Communications Delegate:
- Supports the Director in providing external visibility for the department's activities, both teaching and research. Specifically, in addition to preparing the contents and maintaining/updating the department's website, the delegate promotes and coordinates the collection of information relating to the research of both individuals and research groups in the Department, where possible harmonising these activities as part of a unified vision of the Department.
European and Competitive Research Project Delegate: Professor Emanuele Ghedini
The European and Competitive Research Project Delegate:
- Supports the Director in the coordination, support and monitoring of European research projects, acting as a liaison with the university bodies and promoting access to such projects by the Department's research teams by identifying the most effective synergies.

- Participates in the most significant university and/or school meetings for the Department.
