Flight mechanics

The Flight Mechanics Laboratory at the University of Bologna was established at the Forlì campus in 2006. The main focus of the research is the modelling, simulation and control of atmospheric and space flight. Over the years the laboratory has gained extensive experience in the field of remotely piloted aircraft, developing specific solutions for observing the territory below, environmental protection and defence of cultural and environmental assets, working with public and private bodies. Recently it took part in a major project to “dronify” an ultralight helicopter, conducting an extensive experimental campaign. In the space sector, the Laboratory has developed expertise in the attitude control of small satellite platforms, contributing to two university projects.
